Kia Forte vs Hyundai Elantra

You can pack lot of fun into a compact car. When comparing the 2019 Kia Forte vs. Hyundai Elantra, you'll learn that quickly. However, which car is the right one for the Ithaca, Corning, and Binghamton lifestyle?

The Forte has been completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, while the Elantra has made some changes, too. The Maguire Kia team is here to explain all of those important changes so you're able to make a more informed decision about the next car you want to drive.

Kia Forte vs Hyundai Elantra Performance

Every 2019 Kia Forte comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. It's a sporty vehicle, and when you're behind the wheel, you'll feel just how fun this car is to drive. The base edition features a 6-speed manual transmission, but the Continuously Variable Transmission is available on the base trim and standard on higher ones.

The Kia Forte allows you to choose your own adventure, too, if you will. Put it in Sport mode for better steering and throttle response, or keep it in Comfort mode for the right balance of acceleration and smooth ride.

The base engine on the Hyundai Elantra is also a 2.0L 4-cylinder and, much like the Kia Forte, delivers 147 horsepower. There are also some other engines to choose from, including a turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder and turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder.

Versatile, Driver-Friendly Cabin Space

Both the Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra are designed for maximum comfort. The Forte cabin is now longer with more rear legroom and cargo space, too. Rear passengers also have more headroom than in previous editions of the Forte. The Forte cabin seats five comfortably on standard cloth seats. A 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat is available.

The optional 60/40 split-folding seats can be configured to give you more options when you need to store longer cargo items. That also means there's still room for two rear-seat passengers. You'll also find 60/40 split-folding seats in the Elantra.

The 2019 Forte does carry a bit more trunk space than the Hyundai Elantra, though. With 15.3 cubic feet of space, the Forte trunk is large enough to fit multiple pieces of luggage. The Elantra trunk is spacious but, at 14.4 cubic feet, doesn't quite match up to what the Forte offers.

Staying Safe While Driving

Driver-assistance safety technologies are designed to keep you aware of surrounding traffic and even intervene in certain situations. The Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra have a number of available safety technologies designed to protect you and other drivers on the roadway, too.

Lane Departure Warning will detect whether you're drifting from the lane you're in and will alert you with a warning beep. Blind Spot Collision Warning uses radar to detect cars in your blind spot and helps you avoid potentially dangerous lane changes.

Both the Forte and Elantra feature standard rearview cameras, so you'll see an image on your touchscreen of what's happening behind the car when backing up.

2019 Kia Forte vs Hyundai Elantra: The Verdict

The 2019 Kia Forte and 2019 Hyundai Elantra are fun cars to drive, thanks to their peppy performance, spacious cabins, and helpful safety features.
