Dependable SUVs like the Kia Sportage and Honda CR-V provide you with the power you need to get through tough conditions, safety features to give you peace of mind, and the kind of technology that makes your drives more fun.

So, which SUV is right for you? Maguire Kia helps drivers and families in Ithaca, Corning, and Cortland decide with this 2020 Kia Sportage vs. Honda CR-V comparison.

Kia Sportage vs Honda CR-V Specs

The Kia Sportage offers two exciting powertrains. Each one is capable of delivering an agile and athletic drive with a 6-speed Sportmatic® transmission. Both options run on front-wheel drive but are also available with Dynamax™ Full-time All-Wheel Drive.

The more powerful of the two engines is a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine. It can get up to 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. That kind of production gives it the ability to tow up to 2,000 pounds.

The Honda CR-V also offers two engines. However, neither one can provide you with as much power. The strongest option is a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that gets up to only 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. You also won't be able to bring as much cargo with its 1,500-pound towing capacity.

Safety & Driver-Assistance Features

The 2020 Kia Sportage helps keep you safe with six airbags, including full-length side curtain airbags that cover both rows of seats. The interior is also protected by a strong frame, front seat-belt pretensioners, and Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH).

Every trim also comes with driver-assisting technologies that can help prevent accidents by making you aware of what's around your SUV. Some of the features that you can rely on are:

  • Blind-Spot Collision Warning
  • Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Driver Attention Warning

The Honda CR-V also offers six airbags and some similar driver-assistance features as part of its Honda Sensing® system. Unfortunately, this system is not available on every trim level. It also doesn't offer anything that monitors how you're driving like the Driver Attention Warning.

Infotainment Systems

In addition to all the safety features, there are lots of technologies on the dashboard of the 2020 Kia Sportage. It's home to a standard 8-inch touchscreen and a user-friendly infotainment system.

The system is Bluetooth®-compatible and features voice recognition, so you can make hands-free phone calls and change songs without taking your eyes off the road. Feel free to access some of your favorite smartphone apps while you're on the road too. Every trim level comes with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

The dashboard of the Honda CR-V also features a Bluetooth®-compatible infotainment system. While Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and a touchscreen are available, they're not offered on every trim level. In fact, the base trim only offers a 5-inch LCD screen.
