Compact SUVs, such as the Kia Sportage and Toyota RAV4, are some of the most versatile vehicles on the road. They offer power for a capable drive, a roomy interior, and features to help make your drive more fun and convenient. So, which one is right for you?

To help drivers and families in Ithaca, Corning, and Cortland decide, Maguire Kia explores what each of them has to offer in this 2020 Kia Sportage vs. Toyota RAV4 comparison. Also, don't forget to check out our Kia Sportage inventory!

Performance Specs

The Kia Sportage offers two sporty and efficient engines, both with standard Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). Dynamax™ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Locking Center Differential is also available for extra stability. The most exciting powertrain offered is a 2.0L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 237 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque.

The Toyota RAV4 is also available in either Front-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive. The only gas powertrain it offers is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that can generate up to 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, far less than the Kia Sportage.

Passenger Room

Both the Kia Sportage and Toyota RAV4 have seating for up to five people. You'll also be able to load up each SUV with lots of cargo. Each one features a spacious trunk and 60/40 split-folding rear seats that can quickly expand for more cargo room.

The cabin of the Kia provides a more comfortable ride. When you're behind the wheel, you'll enjoy 39.3 inches of headroom and 41.5 inches of legroom. Passengers in the back seats will also benefit from its spacious design with 38.2 inches of rear legroom.

The Toyota RAV4 offers less room for both the driver and passengers. Up front, there's only 37.7 inches of headroom and 41 inches of legroom. In the back, passengers may feel a bit more cramped with just 37.8 inches of rear legroom.

Infotainment System

The dashboard of the Kia Sportage is home to an 8-inch touch-screen display. It blends in nicely and keeps you connected via Bluetooth®. Both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard as well. Whether you're changing songs, making a phone call, or switching between apps, voice recognition lets you do it safely and keep your eyes on the road.

The Toyota RAV4 also offers a Bluetooth®-compatible infotainment system, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and voice recognition. Unfortunately, its standard system has a slightly smaller 7-inch screen. It's also not as well positioned. The monitor sits on top of the dashboard, which may slightly obstruct your view while driving.
